as a co-signer on an autoloan, do I have the right to retain possesion of the automobile if I am the one making the payments? I am not on title

Since you are not on the title you are not technically the owner, or co-owner, of the car. Is the individual who is the owner not making payments like they are supposed to? If they do not and you have to pay you can sue them for the money that you have had to pay on the loan.
