My mother in law died a couple months ago. She spent her last few months in a nursing home. Now we are receiving bills from the home. She had medicaide and no assets. Can they collect from her children?

No they cannot collect from the children unless the children agreed to responsibilty for the bills. You should check the paperwork admitting your mother into the nursing home careful to make sure that no one agreed to be responsible.

If none of her children agreed to be personally responsible, her probate estate would be responsible for the debts.
