Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

ok there was a check wrote from my old bank acct. closed in jan of 08 tthe check was wrote aug 7 of o9 for 1600 dollarsto a store for roofing stuff. my driverslicense number is on the check also. i cops called me pointing the finger telling me ive been IDed for passing back checks. i told that cop my truck was broke into a while back my wallet was stolen, i had to get new SS card DLs everything new in 4.09. well he seems to think im trying to wiggle out of passing bad checks and asked me to come give a hand writing sample. im worried they might arrest me. can they? and will anything come of this if i just ignore the rude cop. also i called the store where the cop said the check was wrote. it was wrote for roofing stuff. i asked the lady if they had anythign else such as a copy of the driverslicense or get the guy on camera. so all they cops have is a check with my DL# on it. will they charge me? or just issue a warrent for me if i dont give the handwriteing sample. what should i do?

I would not do anything until they actually arrest you. You do not want to give them a writing sample because then this can be used in court as evidence against you. Also, you will want to retain an attorney and I would be happy to assist you in any way that I can. If you are called in you would want an attorney to go with you and represent you. Don't speak to any cop unless there is an attorney with you. Cops love to intimidate people and get them to admit to things.

Feel free to contact me, free of charge, at [email protected] or at 330-447-7634. I am happy to help in any way that I can.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you and have a great day.
