A detective has called my house and wants to talk to my 13 yr old son and I

Do I have to go?should I refuse and get an attorney? Of course my son claims he don't know what this could be about.

I would suggest you consult with an attorney, as it is possible your son is the focus of the investigation. If that is the case, it is possible his discussions with the detective could be used against him later. If he is not involved, and he submits to questioning, then he must answer the questions truthfully, or decline to answer them. To lie or mislead would potentially subject him to other criminal charges.

If there is no warrant you are not compelled to talk to the police. However, you will be well served to talk tom the police at least let them do the talking and find out what is going on.
