Re: drugs found in home

This answer is for your protection and may not be in the best interest of your stepson! If your goal is to have the police remove this person from your home, you have an obligation to let the police now the full situation. They will need to know if they will be in any danger when they confront him.

Now, to your question as to your responsibility for the fact that there are drugs and weapons in the house. You could have a problem. Is your stepson a minor? Are you and he the only ones living in the house? How long have you been aware of the problem? How do you know that the problem exists? Have you ever shared any of the drugs? Is he going to claim that he gave or sold drugs to you?

If he is an adult, you recently became aware of the drugs, and have not participated in the use or aquisition of the drugs, you should not get into any trouble. If he is a minor it may be important that you get the authorities involved ASAP. If he is an adult and you cannot persuade him to leave voluntarily, you may have no choice but to talk to the police-after you talk to an attorney!

Good Luck

If he is in your custody a problem may arise if you knew he had these things for a long period of time. Also, does he know that you know of the weapons and drugs? He might try to implicate you in some sort of way to the police. Contact an attorney then call the police.
