Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

Loaned car stuck in impound

I loaned my car to an out-of-town cousin because once he got here his car broke down. He said he was going to get a starter for his car. Instead of going to an auto parts store, he went to a drug store and tried to get a case of sudafed. The cousin is in jail for 8 to 10 years. My car is impounded with all of my personal items. I am told that I cannot get it out because it was involved in a felony. I cannot even get my personal things out. I tried to schedule a court date with the judge, but he would not hear me. I called the police and told them to come get the cousin's car and belongings. They did that, but I still cannot get my car back. What to do?

Re: Loaned car stuck in impound

You can file a motion in that court for the return of your car, but you must prove that you did not know it was going to be used in an illegal way. Get a lawyer to do this at this point.
