Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

Parole Violation

Hi. My partner was recently put in jail due to a parole violation. This is the first time he violated his parole and it was a mistake. He didn't know he wasn't allowed out of state because he hasn't been in this kind of trouble before. So they are still holding him until his court date. What kind of punishment can he get if this is the first time he has done this? Do you think it will be just a slap on the wrist? There are way more criminals out there that do worse things then that, and they get away with it most of the time. He realizes he made a mistake, and he's learned his lesson, do you think he will get into that much trouble? I'm hearing two different stories from a lot of people. I hear that he may get 18 months in jail, or he may just get a slap on the wrist. How do you feel about the situation?

Re: Parole Violation

He has the right to a hearing on whether he should go to prison...there is always some kind of delay in getting that hearing, and they seem never in a hurry to schedule it...it seems this is a minor infraction, but of course, his original crime and record in general will be considered.
