Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

reducing a misdemeanor charge

I am trying to join the United States Air Force to get an intelligence job. I took the ASVAB and got great scores and I am definitely qualifed. The only thing holding me back from getting the job is a public intox misdemeanor charge. The case is done and over with. However, I was wondering if and how I could get this charge reduced to a lesser offense so it does not effect my chances of getting an intel job?

Re: reducing a misdemeanor charge

Contact someone from the Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and get the names of any lawyers near you that handle "post-conviction" matters. Talk to them about whether or not the conviction can be expunged - if not, sometimes if the timing is right, a Court can re-open the case and then MAYBE a sympathetic prosecutor MIGHT agree to a reduction, assuming you've been clean since then and have proof that you want to join the AF.

Good luck to you.
