Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Ohio

Pre-Employment Discrimination

I applied for an advertised entry level position with my local city service dept. The service director called this morning and asked how old I was and when I said I was 49 he told me he's ''looking for a younger guy''. How can I prove he said this...do I have to have it on tape?

Re: Pre-Employment Discrimination

To prove age discrimination you do not have to have the comments on tape. What you do have to have (or be able to obtain through the lawsuit) is proof that the employer did not hire you and hired a substantially younger, less qualified individual. Put this together with your testimony as to what was told to you and you probably have a pretty fair case to prove employment discrimination.
