Drunk Driving Record

How many years does a DWI/DUI record remain on a background check that future employers may see? Also, how can one have this removed from record?

Re: Drunk Driving Record

I am sorry to inform you that there is no way to get a DUI off your record, which is why it is always a good idea to get an attorney. You don't want to plea to a DUI if you don't absolutely have to. A DUI stays on your record because under current law if you get 4 in 6 years or 6 in 20 years you are charged with a felony. There has been discussion in the state legislature about changing this to a lifetime lookback rather than 20 years and other changes.

Many employers only look back 5 or 10 years for a record but it will always be there if they look.
