Legal Question in Elder Law in Ohio

My older sister has some how obtained power of attorney on our mother. We are only consulted when they can't figure out how to do something or need something. We visit her at least 2 times a week yet are not kept informed of why she gets what care she gets, we are not given a say in care choices etc. We have been told if we want information we have to get from my sister. What can we do?

If you mother lacks the capacity to appoint a power of attorney or was coerced or defrauded in some way, then you may be able invalidate the power of attorney. If you are concerned about her care or the management of her affairs, you may be able to apply for guardianship of her through the probate court in the county she resides.
