Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Hello...We live in Dayton, Ohio and our daughter was recently incarcerated (7mths ago) and her husband has just decided to file for a divorce. He has now decided not to let us see our 2 grandsons, ages 14 & 16. We have been seeing them regularly with no problem but now he has decided not to let us. The boys are really sad about it and needless to say, we are too.

Our son in law has changed so much and not in a positive way. Leaving the kids alone at all hours, not providing them with the normal things he's responsible for such as food, clothes, etc. We've been taking care of this ourselves. He also has a hard time controlling his temper/anger and has physically hurt/hit the kids on several occassions. He's also been doing some things that could get him in some trouble legally.

We've always been a close family and our daughter depends on us as far as her boys go. We've always been there for all of them and want to continue however our soon to be ex son in law has out of no where informed us that we can't see the boys anymore because we're not financially supporting them enough. To be honest, we have and are finacially supporting the boys more than he has. All of his money seems to go towards his fishing hobby.

What rights do we have as far as having visitation with our grandsons? It's not fair that he makes his boys suffer just to make a point with us. We love the boys so much and would never put them in harms way or cause them any pain.

I would very much appreciate any help you could give us please?

Thank you for your time! Have a fantastic afternoon!

Sincerely,

Tammy*

You may have viable 3rd party visitation rights as the grandparents. To find out you would need to go to court and file various motions. I would strongly recommend consulting with an attorney.

If you would like to discuss further at no cost to you, feel free to contact me.
