Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Marriage and divorce

I was married in Jamaica in 1996. I am listed as married on the federal tax forms and file jointly. Is there anything special I need to do to get a divorce, i.e. can I file here in the U. S. or do I need to go through Jamaican courts?

Ohio has a six-month residency requirement before you can receive a divorce. As long as you meet any other state requirements, it does not matter that you were married in Jamaica.
