Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Separation and settlement

I have been married for 20 years and my wife and I are moving toward separation. There are no minor children involved. Is there a difference between a Separation and a Legal Separation? I have contributed probably at least 90% of our household income over the 20 years but her earning potential is improving now that we own a small business that she runs. Can I expect an equitable 50-50 distribution of assets, property, debt and income? My wife wants me to leave the house and I want her to leave. What should I expect as a resolution to this?

Re: Separation and settlement

A separation is just being apart. A legal separation divides all marital assets and debts, and also deals with property distribution and spousal support. It does not, however, end the marriage. As to division, everything STARTS at 50/50, but everything is determined by the facts of the case.
