Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Hello, I have a son who is age 8. I am his sole legal guardian and I am curious if I am able to have my husband (his step dad) legally added as a second guardian in the unexpected event something were to ever happen to me while my son is a minor that he would automatically have guardianship of him. I wasn't sure if adoption was the only way to ensure that or if there is another route.

You could put in your will that you want him to have custody of your son. However, it would really depend upon what type of relationship the biological father has with the child. There is a chance he could get custody of your son in the event you die and he is still a minor. His rights will supersede any claim by your husband.
