visitation schedule

What usually happens when one parent wants to follow the court's standard visitation schedule and the other parent wants to follow a non-standard schedule that changes every few weeks because of a rotating work schedule such as a health care worker, police or factory worker may have?

If the parties cannot agree, then the visitation arrangement ordered by the divorce decree or custody order will be the one that will be enforced.
