Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Warrant for abandonment and failure to pay support

I have recently been made aware of warrants for me in the state of OH for abandonment and failure to pay child support. I gave this child up for adoption then left the state. Although I was unaware of it, apparently the biological father contested and gained custody sometime after I left. I am now married and have lived in CA for 10. My question is can they come to CA and arrest me and is my husband financially responsible for legal fees and payment of arrears? Will I need to appear in OH or can this be resolved state to state? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Warrant for abandonment and failure to pay support

You should contact an attorney in OH regarding the warrants. Also it is possible that the order for the child support is not valid if you were not properly served with notice of the hearing.

It is possible that the warrant would be placed on the national registery and you could be arrested.
