Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Ohio

my husband purchased property nearly 30years ago that he allowed his parents to build a house on part of , he also has a business that is run out of another building on the property, without his knowledge, his parents took a mortgage out on the house, which has since been paid off. My mother -in-law passed away in December and now the hospital is trying to get the entire property for unpaid medical expenses. We have offered to lot it off and let them have the house to settle the matter but they want it all, including my husband's business...Is there anything we can do to stop the hospital from taking something that never belonged to her in the first place ? Also, can we be compensated for the effect this has already had on my husband's business ?

You definitely need to see the mortgage documents...maybe they dont have an effective lein...if they dont, you're in great shape...have a lawyer look at the proof they have that you allowed your property to become encumbered...
