Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Ohio

legal representation

Thank you for providing this service. My daughter filed a restraining order against a former boyfriend with whom she shares a child. He appeared in court so that supervised visitation for the child might be ruled upon. He showed uo with his Aunt, who is a DA, as his defense attorney. Is it legal to have a relative defend you in court? Thank you.

Re: legal representation

It is legal and ethical to have a relative represent you, however, if the relative spoke to you in an attorney client relationship then there would be a conflict. It is not a good idea to represent family as no one wins, but legally, it is permissible.
