Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Ohio

Pain and suffering

My son and his wife talked me and my wife into selling our house and moving to his area. He offered to build us a house. We built the house. We moved in in June of 2004. Later he told us he couldn't afford the extra cost of the added house and wanted us to pay rent. We did not have the money for that. Ultimately he told us we had 30 days to leave or he would have us removed. It cost me $3700 to move in and $5500 to move out once we found a place to live. I spent $2000 on the new house. I want to know if I can force him to re-imburse me for those expenses and additional punitive damages. We were heartbroken and it's very difficult for 70 year old parents to move themselves.

Re: Pain and suffering

Is the title in your name? Even if it is not you can resist his attempts to evict you based on the promise that he made that this was a gift. You have a claim for what is called detrimental reliance.

Feel free to keep me in touch and I will help you. You can also contact me directly. I feel so bad for you, so please feel free.
