renting furniture

I rented a bedroom suite in ohio and i moved to ky I kept my payments up until now , now they are telling me they are taking me to court or coming after their furiture i only owe 661.00 I paid 1,500 I am not about to give it back , but I can't make a payment right now , so what will happen if i let them take it to court , I can pay it off in jan.

They said they would add I took it out of state .Please help

The problem with rental contracts is that you are just "renting" the property until all conditions in the contract are satisfied. The contract governs the progress of the transaction and it will have a repossession clause in it. In other words, they can come and get their property. Is it a rip-off?? YES. Is it legal? YES.
