Green Card Through Marriage Question!

Hello, I want to get an opinion on a few things. First of all, I am a Canadian citizen, and my girlfriend is an American Citizen, who is born and raised in Ohio. We have been together for over a year, and want to be together. I want to know, I am currently here in Ohio visiting my girlfriend for a few weeks, and I have been to Ohio many times back and forth, so the question is, since I am here in Ohio right now, could we just decide to get married in Ohio and file for a green card in the US ? The other question, I also want to know, I filed for bankruptcy in 2006, so I wanted to know if that would effect me or be a problem for me to be approved for a green card? If a problem does come up, what are my options to correct this? I also want to know, what is the average wait time for someone who is a Canadian citizen to get their green card application processed?

Yes you can but you will want to keep in mind the issues discussed in this article:

It's about 6-8 months for the green card process.
