Legal Question in Insurance Law in Ohio

coverage

MY insurance agent states we do have coverage for a theft on our property. We understood we had coverage. The other agents in the office say we have coverage. The claims adjuster shows up and says we don't have coverage and won't pay. Half the people in the company that we have talked to say we have coverage. How do I get them to pay? When we bought the policy the agent told us we had coverage he still thinks we should be covered. Is this fraud? If the agent made a mistake should we be left holding the bag. When we bought the policy we trusted that the agent was taking care of things. Any advice. We estimate the theft at $5000.00. They turned it down based on a $10000.00 estimate. What gives?

Re: coverage

First things first. READ YOUR POLICY. Find the language in there that you believe entitles you to coverage. Point that out to your Ins. Co.

If they still deny coverage, you will have to file what is called a Declaratory Action. That is where you file with the Court and ask the Court to Declare whether or not there is coverage, making arguments FOR coverage in your brief.
