Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Ohio

My uncle passed away in 1998. He was a commercial artist by trade but in his spare time he created a series of cartoons centered around a particular character he created. When he died, my sister and I were the sole inheritors of his estate. My question is this: Can we legally market his works today? Thank you.

As a Franchise Attorney I can say this. Unless your uncle had an agreement with some other person or entity about his cartoon series and character, you and your sister would have whatever rights he did, including marketing his work. Go through all files to verify the above and consult with a good intellectual property or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice about protecting the works and moving forward.
