Lottery in UK

I received an e-mail yesterday and they have communicated today and say I am a winner of one of there lotterys. I have seven days to respond with my personal information. I will only respond through an Attorney. How can I tell if this is on the level? Where do I go from here? I have 5 mins left fromt he local library. I will have to e-mail your reply if it is long or you don't respond right away tomorrow.

These are always bogus -- ask yourself the basic question: DID YOU BUY A TICKET? No, of course you didn't, so how can you possibly have won the "lottery"??

The point of the scam is to obtain some personal information from you and hopefully induce you to part with some money to obtain your "winnings" (which of course don't exist).
