Legal Question in Employment Law in Ohio

3 years ago our group was out-sourced from our employer to another company. This year the company we work for now decided we made to much money and as of 1 July 2010 we are going to have to take 30 percent cut in pay to , as they put it leave or stay with the cut. Now from what I am getting from a very reliable source that our company signed the contract with is that our contract was not cut in yearly price, if fact our company received a small raise from the company they work for ,for cutting our pay. Is this legal? I'm sure one would have to see the contract. Just concerned

You live in Ohio, therefore you are probably an at-will employee. If so, they can pay you what they want or cut your pay any way they want as long it is at the Ohio minimum. No reason need be given. You, then, have the freedom to find another job. Exceptions to this rule are:

1) you are a member of a union with a collective bargaining agreement

2) you have an actual employment contract in place which states your pay; or

3) you are working on a government project which requires fair pay.

Absent one of these exceptions you are at-will. Sorry I could not be more encouraging.
