Legal Question in Employment Law in Ohio

At the medical office where I work , we were just informed that we are being taken over by a large hospital. We were told that there would be a position for everyone with the new employer. But, not necessarily the same job or the same department. If they offer us a job that is not to our expectations and we don't accept it, would that be considered quitting and, therefore, we would not be eligible for unemployment benefits?

In this economy, quitting a job is not a good idea. However, you can not be forced to work well-below your acquired status and salary. (This is called "constructive discharge"). The problem is, YOUR expections do not really count. The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services will decide if you are granted unemployment compensation. Then, there are a bunch of appeal processes which your employer may use to fight your unemployment. Before any of this hits the fan, you need to consult with an employment attorney to discuss your options because this procedure is fraught with trap doors.
