Legal Question in Employment Law in Ohio

Hi, I have a question about employment law in Ohio. I work for an employer that has forced me to work 18 days straight, 104-112 hours a pay period atleast 3 times in the past 5 months. All others other than 4 weeks out of the 5 months have been 6-7 days a week. We do not get lunch breaks per say but are required to eat lunch while on tour or at the desk. Also they have been requiring me to show up 5-10 minutes early every day the week to have time to clock in and get to my post but was never compensated for it. Also I am required to wait for my boss to show up to which hes late alot (unpaid). Also I have been written up for closing my eyes at my desk(not sleeping) while working 12 out of 13 day (the one day off is a day I called off to be at a funeral(which i was denied as well but recieved a unexcused absence and write up)).

I would need to know some other facts about your case before I could advise you; however, assuming that you are:

1) an hourly employee

2) not covered under a union contract, and

3) not a member of a protected class and being subjected to discrimination (for instance, if you are a woman, minority or over 40 and and you are not being treated equally to other employees who are not in your protected class).

Assuming all of those things, it seems like your employer may be violating Federal Wage and Hour Law. You should call the Federal Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor and discuss your situation with them. (Their Ohio phone numbers are listed below.) Please note that this response is intended for informational purposes only and is not intended as legal advice or an offer to provide legal advice. In fact, I am not open to taking new cases at this time.

Good luck with this. It is always important that employers treat employees with decency and fairness!
