how would we get proof of letter that my husband parents got a cash settlement for--name removed--because of brain damage due to the gas they used back in the 60''s for surgery--name removed--wasborn with a double cleft plate, he had 32 operations from time of birth to age 12yrs

It is highly likely that there was a lawsuit filed before there was any settlement. Most Medical Malpractice cases do not settle until after a lawsuit has been filed. If you have the name of the person who was injured, parents, names, and the name of the hosptital, it is possible that court records could be found that would establish that at least some action was taken.
