Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Ohio

Lawsuit???

I'm 17 years old. I had my first child on July 29, 2004. The day I was discharged from the hospital I noticed a stinging pain around my epistomy cut. Then came an odor every time I went to the bathroom. The pain and odor only got worse and worse. On August 3, 2004, I was rushed to the emergency room for high blood pressure. A couple hours later the doctor pulled sponges out of me that the previous doctor from my child's birth had left inside of me. I was wondering can i sue on this alone.

Re: Lawsuit???

One of the most common malpractice issues arises when instruments are left behind after surgery. It's certainly negligent on the doctor, the surgical nurse(s) responsible for instrument and sponge counts before and after surgery, and the hospital for negligent hiring and supervision. The value of the claim relies upon a number of factors, including your physical damage and pain and suffering. I'd be happy to look at the case and give you a free consultation. My office is right across the river from Cincinnati. Hope to hear from you. 859-491-5800. If not, best of luck to you in your claim.

Re: Lawsuit???

Yes, an object such as a sponge should not be left inside a person after surgery, obviously. The value of your case will need to be worked up. Please call 1-800-628-8989 if you would like to discuss further.
