Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Ohio

We missed several payments on mortgage loan and we recieved a court paper with a receipt that the bank recieved..in the description it says "preliminary foreclosure judial report"... do you know what is going on? And also what should I do to stop this? I have read up on loan modifications also and they keep asking if this is our primary home but it is not. It is my mother-in-law's home that was willed to us after she passed away. The loan is STILL in here name. I am sorry if I am asking to many questions but I am disturbed. Thanks for your help.
