Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Ohio

Title Company said tax exempt

Last year we purchased a condo. The title company gave us a payment of $675.oo. We were told this included our escrow for taxes & ins. We receive a letter from mortgage co showing our escrow acct was short $1,140 And that we have to pay $223.00 more a month for the next 12 months to make up for last year and to pay what we should have been paying all along. the title co figured our payment as tax exempt. There is absolutely no reason for us to be tax exempt. We were told we would be paying our taxes out of the escrow. The title co made the mistake. We can't afford this high payment. Do we have any recourse?

Re: Title Company said tax exempt

Based upon your question the short answer is no. There is no reason another person should pay your taxes for you. If there are any penalties or interest applicable you might be able to recover that but not the taxes.
