Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Ohio

Transfer on death deed

My father passed away 4 years ago.

Before he passed, he signed the house

over to me. Right now, my name is on

the deed. He had a mortgage or 2nd

mortgage or some sort of loan that I

thought was tied to the house. I payed

the loan for 3 years then stopped. I

received a letter stating they will not

firclose and they are reliquishing house

to me. That mortgage is in his name.

They turned the loan over to a

collection agency in his name- am I

liable for loan? Can they come after

house?

Re: Transfer on death deed

If they have a mortgage on the property then the mortgage survives your father's death and is a lien on the property.
