Unmarried couple live together w/ no will or children and one dies

Unmarried couple of 17 years living together for 7-8 years w/ no children and no will. Does the living partner have any entitlement or legal rights to the deceased assets/items?

In the situation you describe, neither partner would have any legal rights to the property of the other. The only rights that might attach is if a bank account or piece of real property would be titled as joint and survivorship property. Both of you need to do that, or get wills drafted to better effectuate your wishes,
