Legal Question in Traffic Law in Ohio

Law regarding use of High Beams / Bright Lights

I was driving through Cleveland Heights tonight at around 12:30 am. I was

driving at around 24-25 mph in a four lane, 25 mph zone. I noticed a

policeman had set up a speed trap on the opposite side of the road from a

bank parking lot. After driving past, about a tenth of a mile down the road, I

flashed my high beams to warn another driver of the speed trap ahead, trying

to be polite and save him a bit of hassle. Instead of pulling over the other

driver for speeding, he pulled me over! While I did not recieve a ticket here,

the police officer was very rude, condescending and impolite to me, telling

me that I had ''a lot of growing up to do.'' Personally, I think I was doing the

polite, adult thing there in alerting the oncoming driver of the speed trap. I

did not make him go faster, I caused him to slow down, which is the point

anyways, is it not?

My question is - Is this sort of thing against the law at all? I find it ridiculous

that I was pulled over for this, and I am assuming that he did not charge me

with anything because he couldn't and that I had done nothing wrong other

than foil his speed trap for one single driver.

Re: Law regarding use of High Beams / Bright Lights

If anything, maybe obstructing justice but that would be quite a stretch. I often do the same thing to alert other drivers and consider it good driver's etiquette. Don't let one bitter cop deter you from keeping the roads safe and friendly.
