Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

Bankruptcy/ Named in will

Mother passed away in 8/12/05 we filed bankruptcy in 10/05 we were named benificiaries in her will. our bankruptcy was discharged in 04/20/06 but the trustee in charge sent a letter to our lawyer saying all monies must be turned over to him. It has been one year since our discharge. the estate will be finalized in about 60 days does the money still have to go to the trustee or would we be able to have the money now? it is about $3000.00 The estate took that long to sell.
