Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

I was Executor for my mother's estate when she died in 1996. Recently I discovered over $4000.00 being held by the State in their unclaimed funds division,(Ohio.) I applied for these funds by submitting my Executor paperwork and was told that the statute of limitations had run out on my status as Executor and that I needed something that was more currently dated that stated that I had the power to act on my mother's behalf. I went back to the attorney who handled her estate and I've been there 3 times and nobody seems interested in helping me get these funds due her estate. What do I need to do to get help in this matter?

You will need to apply to the probate court to reopen the estate. They will issue you new letters of authority that will allow you to claim the funds.

You may have to reopen the case, but it's worth it. I suggest going to probate court yourself and asking them for the forms.
