Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

Been living with my partner for over 10yrs. I am 63yr and my partner passed. He had no will. We have credit cards in both names, vehicle in both names. His employer acknowledged me as partner and covered me with health insurance. Family and community acknowledged us as husband and wife and wore rings. Could a judge be willing to acknowledge us under common law marriage even though the state of Ohio did away with that law.

Common law marriages in Ohio are no longer hold valid after October 10, 1991. Ohio is one of five states that have grandfathered the common law marriages that happened before October 10, 1991 if the common law marriage has not been terminated by death, divorce, dissolution of marriage, or annulment. So your answer depends on how low you and your partner have been living as husband and wife. If you need assistance in this matter please contact my office.
