will

if a will says amended next to the fidituary does that mean there is another copy somewhere or does that mean just a different person over seeing it

The question and facts you cite are difficult to answer without more information. One would need to know if this was an original will or a copy; also, whether the amendment was done properly, by way of what is called a Codicil, or whether it was done on the face of the document. Generally, an attempt to amend a will by marginal notations, crossing out language or adding other language, etc., is not effective.

In order for a writing to be a "Last Will," certain formalities must be observed under Ohio law, so you should have the document and the entire situation reviewed by an experienced probate lawyer.

First of all, copies cannot be probated. Only an original. It is hard to say without seeing it but it may mean that a previous will had a different fiduciary. Best Regards, Edward DiCato

Wills are "amended" through the use of a codicil so if this document is titled codicil then there would be another previous document.
