Legal Question in Business Law in Oklahoma

Return of goods. 30 day legal requirement.

I've a small business. On Dec. 13 a bow(archery) setup was purchased. On Jan 3 the setup was brought back for refund with receipt. We have no return policy posted. We wanted to treat it as a law away with use, and offered to refund 2/3 of the purchase price, since the bow had left the premises. Customer stated that Oklahoma law said if a policy isn't posted, we had to refund all within 30 days. Is this true, and do we need a policy. Where can I find guidelines to writing a plicy?

Re: Return of goods. 30 day legal requirement.

First of all, it is recommended that you provide a return policy and post it in clear view for future returns if you are accepting ANY returns under ANY conditions.

Secondly, whatever the terms are, they would only require a clear posting. The "Return Policy" posting must be visible to your customers. The limit is 30 days but it can also be seven days depending on whatever time frame is feasible for your small business.

If there are "NO refunds," you should post this. If you provide "Exchanges Only" in lewd of a refund, this must be posted as well.

Either way, the return policy or other terms should not be discussed after-the-fact as in this case.
