civcil rights violation

while being arrested on a driving violation i was slammed to the ground by the state patrol and they broke my ribs and injured my knees

If you did not provoke this kind of behavior by resisting arrest in some fashion, and if you have sufficient courtroom-quality proof of the event [witnesses, video tape, etc.] you may have a civil rights claim against the police for use of excessive force. Check with a criminal practioner in your area.
