Does an employer have the right to record an in-comming call and eavedrop in a personal conversation at work, without any authorization from or warning to an employee?

Yes. The current state of the law is that an employee has no legal expectation of privacy in matters which occur on the job, which includes phone calls, Emails and other forms of communication. Of course personal business conducted on company time is discouraged by most employers. Your remedy is to use a pay or cell phone, and particularly to conduct personal business away from your place of employment.
