Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Oklahoma

How can I get from under a contract?

My girlfriend was living together last year. We purchased a new Car together. She left in December to live with someone else and took the car with her. She has failed to keep the car payments and insurance current. She also has threatened to abandon (or have the car stolen) to get rid of her obligations. I can't afford the car alone (plus, I have my own car). The finance Company refuse to take me off the contract with her.

I need to know what I can do to keep me from being liable for her actions, since I have never had possession of that car? We were living together as a family when she convinced me to help her get the car.

If the vehicle is titled in your name, you have just as much right to the car as your ex does. You could sale the vehicle or turn it back to the creditor if it is in arrears. Again, this assumes that you are on title and can peacefully obtain possession of the vehicle.
