Once I get married am I legally responsible for my husband's previous debt that he had??

In general, you do not incur legal liability for his premarital debts unless you take some action to affirmatively assume responsibility for repayment. What actions might lead to shared liability differ depending on the type of debt involved, among other things. A more definite answer would require much more detail about his debt situation, any action you may be contemplating (or have already taken), and the manner in which the two of you operate financially. I will say, as a practical matter, that his premarital debts will almost certainly affect your financial situation whether you can be held directly responsible by a creditor or not, to the extent repayment requires application of current, marital funds to service the debt.
