Legal Question in Immigration Law in Oklahoma

Student Visa 4 yrs expired but married citizen legally?

My husband student visa expired in 03' we met in 04' married in 06' what do we do now? Will he be deported when we try and adjust status? How hard will the adjustment be? Should we hire a lawyer? What are the lawyer fees like? What is the worst and best that could happen in our situation?I am scared to death of this process! We have decided that if something bad happens and he gets deported that I will have to live in his country with him, but I will be leaving my old parents here in the US and this bothers me a great deal. Please any advice would be helpful!

Thank you

I routinely handle cases just like yours. Unless your husband has criminal record, he should be able to adjust his status to that of a lawful permanent resident in a few months. You don't have to be scared of the process, but I would strongly suggest hiring an immigration attorney because the process is tedious and complex. One little mistake in this application can, in fact, trigger deportation proceedings. Please contact me by phone for a quote. Best of luck!
