I am the owner of an auto insurance policy for myself and my family. Am I open to being sued also if a family member has an accident and is sued?

Did the accident occur in a car to which you have title? Liability for the accident is based on 1)who caused the accident, ie who is negligent. However, payment of the judgment would depend on whose vehicle was insured and who had title to the vehicle.
