Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Oklahoma

We need to sign a new lease for the house we are renting. Our landlord says our rent will go up by $45 each month, but our neighbors (2 separate homes who both rent from our landlord) have signed leases this month as well but their rent has not been raised. Can the landlord leagally do this? All three homes are identical in size and ammenities.

No. Particularly if there are no justification for the disparity in the rent amounts. Additionally, these raises of $45 should not occur each month and if you are being singled out the Landlord's behavior is illegal.

Finally, these actions could be considered or reported as housing discrimination or disparate treatment; both of which are violations of fair housing laws so it is recommended that you document this behavior and refuse to sign an amended lease that do not justify this increase in rent.
