An immigration hold means Immigration will determine whether your husband should be transferred to a separate immigration detention facility. That would depend on his immigration status, and criminal history, if any. If he is detained by Immigration and he is here unlawfully, or has a green card but has criminal convictions, he will have to go to Immigration Court on or near the facility for removal (deportation) proceedings. Some aliens are eligible for bond, so he could try asking for that.

However, removal proceedings are extremely complex and most aliens try to retain immigration counsel to represent them. Unfortunately, since removal proceedings are not criminal, the government will not provide counsel, and the alien has to retain counsel at his or her expense. I highly recommend your husband get counsel when the time comes to guide him through possible relief from removal, including the bond motion and hearing.

I have seen aliens picked up in Southern California who were transferred to detention facilities in other states, such as in Arizona. If that happens and your husband is detained down here in So Cal, I could represent him. I invite you to check out my website and blog for how to contact my office and for more information.
