Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Oregon

Friend/Landlord gone bad

I have an issue of moving out of my old house. My old landlord is mad at that i moved out and is harrassing me about small things that he know my other roommates are responsible for and are taking care of. These things are all happening over text messages? What can I do?

Re: Friend/Landlord gone bad

If you are concerned the landlord will sue you or send you to collections then work with the landlord and resolve it.

If you don't think the landlord will follow through on this and is truly harassing then I suppose you can ignore the text messages.

Send him a certified letter (keep a copy) explaining your position.

Keep in my mind that if you are jointly on the rent with someone else you could very well be responsible for anything your roommates do. The landlord is trying to find one of you to pay up.

You could be proactive and ask your former roommates to pony up so you don't suffer text message harassment now and a possible suit/collections matter later.
