Legal Question in Personal Injury in Oregon

I retained an accident attorney to pursue a wrongful death or economic damages claim on behalf of my father. Do I need to split the net proceeds to other eligible beneficiaries, if the claim is settled prior to filing a lawsuit?

There is a statutory manner of distribution that's a little complex to answer in an email, without knowing great deal more detail about the case and the family.
